My eldest cousin attended the shows and said her only recollection of the Boys was thinking "This doesn't sound anything like their shows at the Fillmore." She was a Greenwhich Village raised hippie who practically lived at the Fillmore. Always said Jimi put on the best live shows she ever saw. Hard to argue with that.

Yea, to their credit, the boys were always honest about how they did at both Monterrey and Woodstock (eg, Jerry saying about the Mont Pop Festival, and I paraphrase: "...yeah, we got up between the Who and Jimi and plinked our instruments...").

Funny that two yrs later, Jimi and the Who yet again eclipsed them, along w a number of others...

But, you know, they outlived the bastards as Ed Abbey would have put it...sort of.
